Alexandra Idenburg, MD, is a family practice physician at Pittsfield Medical Center in Pittsfield, Maine. She specialized in family practice in the United Kingdom and is board certified by the Royal College of General Practitioners in London. Dr. Idenburg completed her medical degree at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in the Netherlands. She has experience working in the emergency room, as well as the fields of psychiatry, internal medicine, surgery, geriatrics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and pediatrics.  While at UvA, Dr. Idenburg worked on several research projects. She participated in infertility research, which was presented on national TV, and conducted extensive research on the prevalence of schistosomiasis haematobium in a rural area of Zambia, which was presented at a World Health Organization conference. She also worked with the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa regarding the distribution and preference of certain species. Dr. Idenburg previously served as a preceptor for students at the Wessex School of Medicine in the United Kingdom. She is currently a preceptor for medical students at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Pittsfield Medical Center is a friendly, academic family practice.
